Causes of leg tingling at night

The German Association of Neurologists has revealed that the feeling of tingling or pins and needles in the legs at night can be caused by several factors, the most prominent of which is restless legs syndrome.

The association explained that in addition to feeling tingling in the legs, the symptoms of this syndrome include the constant need to clench and stretch the muscles, often causing severe sleep disturbances, which in turn cause a feeling of severe fatigue and concentration disorders during the day.

However, restless legs syndrome can be relieved by regular moderate exercise and physical activity, as well as taking alternating “hot and cold” baths.

If such measures prove ineffective in treating leg tingling, one should consult a doctor, as it may indicate a serious disease such as kidney failure or thyroid problems.
