The UAE Makes New History

I am honoured and pleased to extend the warmest congratulations and blessings to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on the occasion of the successful launch of the Rashid Rover.

This achievement is a new addition to our beloved country’s long record of achievements, strengthening its international position in the field of space in service of humanity.

I wish the UAE more progress and prosperity under our wise leadership.

The UAE launched the Rashid Rover to the surface of the moon and God willing, if it is successful, it will make the UAE the fourth in the world and the first in the Arab world to land on the surface of the moon.

This mission was inspired by the UAE’s people’s dream to reach for the stars and touch the moon and fueled by our wise government’s keenness to do its best for the people of the region.

Furthermore, the UAE worked tirelessly to develop its capabilities in the field of space, building the Hope Probe, followed by the Rashid Rover to learn more about the moon and the secrets it holds.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, said “reaching the moon is a milestone on an ambitious march of progress for a nation and its people who set no limit or know the word impossible, and God willing greater and bigger achievements are to come”.

The Rashid Rover is conducting a multi-aspect study of the lunar surface, including rock science and geology of the moon, plasma on the surface of the moon, lunar dust, lunar soil, collecting data for the development of new technologies, and collecting data related to the origin of the solar system and planet Earth.

Among the most important aspects regarding the process of sending the Rashid Rover to the moon, are the development of robotics technology for the rover, studying sites that will be explored for the first time on the surface of the moon, conducting studies and analysis of the quality of dust on the surface of the moon, conducting tests to study the lunar soil, studying the thermal properties of the surface structures, learning more about the characteristics of the lunar photoelectric effect, and measuring the volume of plasma, optoelectronics and dust particles present in the illuminated part of the lunar surface.

Furthermore, the Rashid Rover will strengthen the scientific research system, boosting the progress of our environmental work.

Thanks to the wisdom and vision of our leadership, the successive achievements of our country in its fifty-first year make us all proud and drive us to work with dedication and sincerity.
