According to the vision of H.H.Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid ALMaktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai “may God preserve him”, “Our next priority is to develop digital economy contribution in our national economy, embedding smart infrastructure, fostering digital readiness, ensuring Government working continuity in all conditions” as the “future will be for those who are digitally Excellent”.
Digital economy is characterized with high productivity, accurate digital governance of main and supportive operations, assured performance sustainability in all conditions, providing proper remedies, developing flexible digital infrastructure for the coming generations, creating value added from real time data, ability to achieve cooperation and integration between different government sectors, without requiring additional materialistic resources, because it focuses on the minds and ideas of creative people.
Countries that have begun their journey of comprehensive digital transformation years ago, and managed to provide flexible electronic capacity, were more prepared to effectively respond to COVID 19 challenges, earned its targeted revenues from investing in digital technology sector, because it has enabled the government and business sectors to maintain business continuity in vital productive, promotional, educational and services providing sectors, and due to the availability of strong smart electronic infrastructure ,they were also able to make quick shift to remote working system.
Experience has proved that “digital technology” was leading the efforts exerted to combat and prevent the crisis!
UAE was pioneering in communication and infrastructure readiness index (TII), years ago, as it was globally ranked in the second place in 2018, and six in smart (digital) index, and was amongst the advanced countries in the index of progress of World Government digital transformation track.
UAE Government has succeeded, during recent years, through its launched initiatives to nurturing and developing the competencies and skills of huge number of local youth, in the field of employing digital technology in different sectors, offering various opportunities for them to innovate develop and implement new projects that have positively contributed to enhance the factors of the country’s leadership globally.
At this stage of our development march, we must emphasize more on the important of launching special initiatives of implementing digital transformation according to the actual needs of development in a safe environment, responding to its main challenges, providing untraditional problem solutions, keenness and integrity in Data and security information management, responsible use of digital social media, employing “future technology” in all Government projects and programs which serve vital sectors, creating high valued new job opportunities , fostering UAE leadership and competitiveness globally in the field of digital governments and also contribute in improving life quality to ensure community happiness.
