Commemoration Day

Each year on November 30, the people of the UAE celebrate Commemoration Day.

On this day in 1971, only two days before the declaration of the establishment of the UAE, policeman, Salem bin Suhail, was martyred in defence of his country’s flag.

The people of the Emirates are known for their loving their homeland and taking pride in it, which helped make the UAE one of the best countries in the world, capable of competing with the most civilized nations in various fields and services.

However, the Emirati people do not express their love of the UAE with neat words and chanting of patriotic songs alone, they are fully prepared to protect this country that gave them happiness in its finest forms, earning them the title of the happiest people.

This can be seen in their commitment to remembering the brave heroes who gave their in defence of their homeland, honouring them by dedicating a day to remembering their bravery and dedication.

Furthermore, the directives of the late Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, God rest his soul, to dedicate November 30 of each year as a day for commemorating martyrs, represent the highest forms of reverence, appreciation, loyalty, and gratitude to the nation’s martyrs who gave their precious lives and blood so that the flag of the Emirates remains flying in the fields of honour, heroism, and glory.

Therefore, everyone should prepare for the celebration of Commemoration Day; to achieve what our wise leadership wanted regarding this noble matter, and to help immortalize the sacrifice of all who gave their lives for their country and nation.

We salute our righteous martyrs and our strong and proud army of the UAE, which defends the development, security and stability of the nation.

The sacrifices of those martyrs are this country’s greatest losses, but this is the fate of every member of the armed forces, who realize from the first day of joining this ranks that they are heading towards death, for they have chosen martyrdom as their path, and dream of dying on the battlefield in defence of their land and people, as did our martyrs before them, delivering on their promise, and went out believing in their inevitable destiny, fending off evil and sacrificing their lives for the UAE.

Long live the UAE, eternally free and glory to our honourable martyrs.
