Biden … between Obama’s idealism and Trump’s realism

There is no doubt that we are in front of  an exceptional American presidential election, despite the official announcement of Democratic candidate Joe Biden’s victory, but it seems clear that the indications confirm that the American elections have not ended yet. Through a reading of the Trump figure, we find that we are facing a figure who is not easy to concede to the matter. Thus, the electoral confrontation moved from the polls to the court.

As for the new phase in the Joe Biden era, this phase, in terms of foreign policy, will fluctuate between returning to Obama’s idealism or continuing with Trump’s realism. Given Joe Biden’s political background, we find that he is to a great extent saturated by Barack Obama’s ideal policy, as he remained 8 years Vice President of Barack Obama, and therefore Joe Biden has been associated a lot with the era that witnessed a decline in America’s international role, when the multipolarity, and also the lack of confidence of America’s allies in the East in American policy, and therefore Joe Biden needs to rebuild confidence at the level of foreign policy Especially towards the Middle East.

The Iranian file is considered one of the most important files that will contribute to rebuilding confidence in the personality of Joe Biden, especially by the allies of the United States in the Middle East region, and therefore the pursuit of a new agreement with Iran, and this is confirmed by the new US administration of Joe Biden, is supposed to take into account the political vision of the countries of heavy weight in the Middle East region towards Iranian policies, and to put an end to the ambitions of the Iranian regime, and thus correct the wrong policies that Barack Obama established.

As for what the Americans expect from President Joe Biden in terms of foreign policy, they are waiting for the consolidation and strengthening of the American presence and position in the new international order, in which the United  States is no longer the one pole, but the new international order has become multi-polar in light of the emergence of countries such as China and India, and Russia, and consequently, the American arrogance that prevailed since the fall of the Soviet Union is no longer commensurate with the developments of the phase that require the United States to adopt a non-“confrontational” policy.

But the most important and difficult file for President Joe Biden remains the “Corona virus file”, especially since this file has remained one of the pillars of the electoral war in the face of Trump, and dealing with this file and its economic effects on the United States is the true measure of the success of President Joe Biden in fulfilling his electoral pledges and promises.
