Russia successfully tests “Satan missile”

The Russian military has announced that it had conducted the first successful test of the Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile, a next-gen weapon with a very long-range, described by the Russian President Vladimir Putin as “unparalleled”.

In a televised speech, Putin said: “This is truly a unique weapon that will enhance the military capacity of our armed forces, ensure the security of Russia in the face of external threats”.

The Russian president was also quoted by AFP saying: “I confirm that the components and parts used in the production of the Sarmat missile were produced locally”.

Weighing more than 200 tons, the Sarmat missile, is supposed to outperform the Vojvoda missile, which has a range of 11,000 km. It has destructive capabilities and is used only in the case of nuclear deterrence.
