The private American company, Stratolaunch, has announced the successful completion of the maiden flight test of its “Talon-A” hypersonic aircraft, powered by reusable energy.
The company’s CEO stated: “While I cannot disclose the specific altitude and speed achieved by the Talon-A, we have reached speeds exceeding the speed of sound approaching Mach 5 and gathered an unprecedented amount of data valuable to our clients.”
Stratolaunch aims to continue the development of the reusable Talon-A this year.
The United States and its global competitors are working to expedite the development of hypersonic weapons, which travel in the upper atmosphere at speeds exceeding five times the speed of sound.
