US Army tests Ripsaw M5 robotic vehicle

The Combat Capabilities Development Command of the US Army conducted the first tests of the prototype of the Medium Robotic Combat Vehicle (RCV-M), an unmanned ground combat vehicle.

The US Army selected the Ripsaw M5 unmanned vehicle for the RCV-M program.

In the future, it is planned to integrate the MET-D into other armored vehicles to enable it to accompany the protected RCV-M system for as long as possible.

The current status of the Medium Combat Robots program is further evidence of the ongoing intensive research into the field of unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs), however, the current status also reveals the fact that all programs are still far from a ready-to-use vehicle status.
