U.S. Navy acquires new missile submarine

The U.S. Navy has acquired a new Virginia-class nuclear-powered attack submarine (SSN).

General Dynamics Electric Boat has recently delivered a new Virginia-class multipurpose combat submarine to the U.S. Navy, the 20th such submarine manufactured for the U.S. Military, and the second one in the block IV variant.

Each Virginia-class submarine is about 115 meters long, has a water displacement of 7,800 tons, and can carry a crew of 134, in addition to 14 officers, move at speeds of up to 34 knots, and it is armed with winged Tomahawk missiles and 533 mm torpedoes.
