The US Army announces a tender for a new polar all-terrain vehicle

According to the terms of the tender, the new all-terrain vehicle should transport up to nine people in “extremely cold weather conditions”, provide emergency evacuation for the wounded, and also act as a command vehicle or cargo platform.

The new vehicle will replace the US Army’s Arctic Support Vehicles, a copy of the Swedish Haglunds BV 206 articulated vehicle. Legacy all-terrain vehicles are slated to be dispensed of in the Arctic pole from 2023.

The US military needs new polar all-terrain vehicles to confront Russia and China in the region. It has been emphasized that the new technology will allow the United States to increase its presence in the Arctic, thus ending the Russian and Chinese hegemony.
