The United Kingdom is building new Type 26 frigates, which will partially replace the Type 23 frigates in service.
The new frigates are referred to as City class, as the ships are named after the major British cities.
In 2018 Australia ordered 3 of these new British frigates, which will be built in Australia according to a modified standard.
These new British frigates are multi-mission warships, that were designed to support anti-submarine warfare, air defence and general-purpose operations.
The Frigate is equipped with missiles that provide complete protection against all air targets, in addition, it features a 24-cell vertical launch system for anti-ship and land attack cruise missiles.
