The latest American heavy F-15EX fighter

The new heavily-armed version US F-15EX Advanced Eagle combat aircraft, officially named F-15EX Eagle II, has been announced. The F-15EX Eagle II will replace the older F-15C / D fighters in the US Air Force, which have an average lifespan of between 37 and 40 years.

This fighter differs from previous versions of the F-15EX in modern avionics based on the “digital box” concept and open mission systems (OMS) architecture, including the Raytheon AN / APG-82 radar series with active array. The F-15EX is said to be capable of carrying up to 22 air-to-air guided missiles or hypersonic weapon systems up to 22 feet in length and weighing up to 7,000 pounds.
