Sweden Equips Army with New Military Reconnaissance Ship

The Swedish Navy recently acquired a new military reconnaissance ship.

Swedish company Saab announced the delivery of the Artemis ship to the Swedish Navy, developed specifically for military reconnaissance and commissioned by the Swedish Ministry of Defence.

The new ship will replace the Orion vessel, which has been in service with the Swedish Navy since 1984.

The manufacturing process of the new ship began in 2018, it was launched into the water in 2019, and its delivery to the Swedish Army was delayed until 2023 due to the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, with the development process being temporarily suspended in March 2021.

The ship has a length of 74.6 meters, a width of 14 metres, a displacement of 3,000 tons and can carry 40 crew members.
