South Korea develops new naval destroyers for its army

Hyundai Heavy Industries is working on the main design for a modified KDDX-class destroyer, which is expected to be completed next year, and the company is supposed to sign contracts with the South Korean Navy to start manufacturing the ship in 2024.

The new ship will be different from the KDDX ships in terms of design and will include significant changes compared to the military ships currently in South Korea.

The new ship is supposed to have a water displacement rate of 65,000 tons and is armed with 127 mm cannons, 16 guided missiles to deal with ground targets, and 64 guided anti-air and sea targets missiles.

The ship will also be equipped with advanced combat control systems and modern radars developed by Hanwha Systems.
