South Korea Develops Advanced Frigates for its Military

South Korea is developing a new generation of war frigates for its military.

The South Korean company SK Oceanplant celebrated the start of construction on a new FFX-III class frigate, for the national navy.

Each FFX-III class frigate is 129 metres long, 14.8 metres wide, has a displacement of 4,300 tons and can move at a speed of 30 knots.

These vessels are equipped with advanced tracking and surveillance equipment based on infrared radiation, radar systems, and sophisticated sensor devices that provide them with excellent protection.

Additionally, they are the first South Korean military ships to be outfitted with CIWS-II combat systems developed by LIG Nex1 company.
