Russia equips cruisers with enhanced air defense systems

Russia-based “Rostec” Corporation has announced that the Russian navy will receive new “Pantsir-ME” air-defense systems.

Russian experts are working to provide the large Russian anti-submarine ship “Admiral Chabanenko” with the Pantsir-ME missile systems, which will replace the existing “Kortik” systems in it.

Equipped with the Pantsir-ME system, these “Karakurt” ships are navy missile frigates 67 meters long, and 11 meters wide, with a water displacement rate of 800 tons, a range of 2500 miles, and a top speed of 30 knots.

These ships can accomplish missions lasting up to 15 days and feature a basic armament including the new 76.2 mm AK-176MA guns, AK-630M anti-air systems, and Kalibr-NK attack missiles.
