Israel has recently launched a new submarine named INS Drakon.
This submarine is the first in the world to carry modern missiles within its sail. Israel is believed to possess 5 Dolphin-I/II class submarines equipped with missiles carrying nuclear warheads. The new submarine, INS Drakon, was launched at a shipyard in Germany.
The INS Drakon is larger than any previous Israeli submarines, notably longer than the first two Dolphin-II class submarines. The most striking feature is its massive sail, which is likely to house its distinctive capability: advanced new missiles.
The nature of these new missiles remains secret. These missiles could potentially be ballistic, perhaps with a guided terminal phase, however, Israel keeps these details classified.
