Israel Aerospace Industries unveils Gunfire Detection System

Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) has unveiled its latest technology in passive fire detection systems.

The system, which can be stationary or installed on manned vehicles or unmanned platforms for on-the-go operations, uses short-wave infrared optics and acoustic sensors, along with artificial intelligence processing, to identify the origins of gunshots.

This system is capable of detecting gunfire from a distance of 400 meters in the day and at longer distances at night, as well as RPG fire from a distance of two kilometers.

The Israeli defense industry says that in addition to the warning directed to fighters on the battlefield, the data can be transmitted to higher command levels in the event of multiple sources of fire.
