Bulgaria is seeking new submarines for its navy, as most of the vessels in service in the Bulgarian navy are now somewhat old and many were developed from the Soviet era, including the diesel-electric Romeo submarines delivered to Bulgaria between 1957 and 1961.
The length of each of the Romeo submarines is 76.6 m, its width is 6.7 m, and its water displacement is equivalent to 1,830 tons. These submarines can move at a speed of 13 knots and are equipped with 533 mm torpedoes, and Arktika-M and MG-15 sonar systems.
