Britain to develop new winged missiles

The British Navy plans to acquire new anti-ship cruise missiles. It is planned that the Type-26 frigates will be armed with this type of missiles in 2028, and in 2030. Typhoon fighters may be armed with these missiles as well. The program to develop new missiles is still in the design stage.

Britain is working on a program to develop new winged missiles within the framework of agreements it signed with France in 2017. The joint work is supposed to result in the development of missiles that will replace the Scalp Shadow and Harpoon anti-ship missiles.

The upcoming FCASW missile should be capable of operating with the Mk.41 platforms that will be installed on the Navy’s Type-26 frigates in the coming years.
