Adoption of SIG Sauer M17 Pistol as Primary Sidearm for U.S. Army

The U.S. Army has acquired a new primary sidearm, the SIG Sauer M17 pistol, and has decided to select it as the main sidearm for its military personnel.

After years of testing, development, and collaboration with the Air Force, the Army has chosen the SIG SAUER M17 pistol as the standard pistol system for the military. The U.S. Army has already requested 500,000 units of the new pistol.

The standard pistol system includes self-illuminating tritium sights for low-light conditions. It features an integrated rail for attaching accessories and a standard Army suppressor set to attach a suppressor/flash hider.
