US Navy destroyers will have the ability to destroy enemy aircraft by burning them with a laser.

The US Navy is preparing to deploy a 60-kilowatt laser weapon on the Arleigh Burke Flight IIA DDG 51 destroyer, named after Helios, which is currently undergoing final evaluations and tests.

Thanks to this new weapon, American destroyers will have the ability to burn or disable enemy drones at speeds equivalent to that of light.

The new US Navy strategy emphasizes interest in artificial intelligence and modern technologies that would tip the scales in naval wars.
