The third edition of the Egypt Defence Exhibition (EDEX 2023) concluded on December 7, 2023, in Cairo, Egypt.

Held at the Egypt International Exhibition Centre under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the 4-day event hosted major global exhibitors in armaments, defence, and security sectors.

It witnessed significant regional and international participation, including defence ministers, chiefs of staff, and other high-level military delegations from around the world.

The exhibition saw massive turnout over its four days with key players in the global defence industry taking part.

The organisation of EDEX 2023 reflects the Egyptian Armed Forces’ commitment to hosting major international gatherings for defence and military industries in Egypt.

Strong UAE Presence

The UAE participated in EDEX 2023 as a strategic defence partner, represented by the Emirates Defence Companies Council (EDCC).

The EDCC organised the UAE’s national pavilion which showcased several national companies specialising in defence industries and related technologies.

Key participants included EDGE Group, Yahsat, GAL-AMMROC, the National Company for Security Products, and Al Seer Marine Supplies & Equipment.

The pavilion also featured platforms for the Ministry of Defence’s Al Jundi Journal, the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development, and Capital Events.

This aimed to promote upcoming exhibitions like UMEX, SimTEX and the accompanying conference, as well as ISNR, which will be held in January and May 2024 respectively.

EDEX 2023 is one of Egypt and Africa’s largest specialised military industry exhibitions.

High-Profile Visits

The UAE pavilion at EDEX 2023 attracted many visitors, notably Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and the Minister of Defence Mohamed Ahmed Zaki.

Several senior military officials from Egypt and worldwide also toured the pavilion where the UAE showcased innovations in defence and security.

EDCC Chairperson Mona Ahmed Al Jaber said “The UAE is participating for the third time in Egypt’s international defence exhibition, reflecting the strong fraternal ties between both nations. These relations are developing steadily, especially across vital sectors like economy, investment and promising opportunities to expand cooperation per the leadership’s vision. This vision seeks to solidify these ties through strategic partnerships that boost capabilities and fulfil the ambitions of both peoples.”

She indicated that UAE companies were keen to showcase cutting-edge products and technologies in defence manufacturing at EDEX, including over 50 products.

This demonstrates the UAE defence industry’s excellence with sophisticated offerings that meet the highest standards and enhance the competitiveness of national industrial products.

Al Jaber reiterated EDCC’s commitment to creating opportunities for members to participate in global forums, highlighting their capabilities and engaging with international experts to achieve growth and leadership.
