H.H. Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah, highlighted the significant role of the UAE Armed Forces.
The Armed Forces have not only bolstered the Union’s strength but also ensured its progress and stability, and the Emirati people take immense pride in their unwavering commitment to humanitarian values, ethical principles, the spirit of sacrifice, and redemption, he said.
On the occasion of the 48th Armed Forces Unification Day, H.H. Sheikh Hamad stated in his speech, “History will always remember this great day. A day of solidarity, unity of wills, and convergence of determination. It was 6th May, 1976, when the unification of the UAE Armed Forces was announced under one flag and one command, fulfilling the hopes of our people for a capable army to protect the nation, uphold our rights, and defend this sacred land.”
“On this day 48 years ago, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, along with the Members of the Supreme Council of the Union, proclaimed the unification of the Armed Forces, united under one flag and one command, known as the General Command of the Armed Forces. This was done to fortify the Union’s strength and safeguard its advancement and stability. It was a momentous day that the UAE will commemorate for ages and generations to come,” H.H. added.
“The unification of the UAE Armed Forces on that momentous day has been the cornerstone of the security and reassurance of our citizens. This sentiment endures to this day, bolstered by the trust placed in President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and his brothers, Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates, and the Armed Forces. They have been relentless in protecting our borders and ensuring the security and stability of the region,” he stressed.
“The sacrifices of the martyrs of the UAE Armed Forces across nearly half a century are testament to the profound unity of this formidable army, the Emirati people, and the nation. They are the custodians of our journey towards prosperity and the guarantors of a life marked by stability, security, adherence to the law, and the ongoing modernisation initiated by the late Sheikh Zayed, may Allah Almighty bless his soul,” he further added.
“On this significant day, we reaffirm our unwavering commitment, allegiance, and support to our valiant Armed Forces. We are dedicated to enhancing their defensive and strategic prowess and fostering innovation and growth within their ranks. Our commitment extends to providing all necessary support and resources to empower them to conduct their duties impeccably. We take immense pride in the Armed Forces’ capacity to navigate diverse challenges and their dedication to integrating cutting-edge military technologies to augment their preparedness and efficacy in safeguarding the nation and thwarting its adversaries. We honour the Armed Forces’ commitment to humanitarian values, ethical standards, the spirit of sacrifice, and redemption, which have set them apart throughout our nation’s history,” Sheikh Hamad further said.
“As leaders of this nation, we acknowledge our indebtedness to our children who selflessly serve on the front lines. Their lives are invaluable, their sacrifices indelible, and they will forever be our true heroes, creating a legacy of valour and honour through their deeds,” he affirmed.
“Each anniversary we commemorate is a poignant reminder of the foundations upon which nations are built and flourish, and of the groundwork being established for a brighter future for our children,” he added.
“We extend our heartfelt congratulations and blessings to my brother, President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and to my brother, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, as well as to my brothers, Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates. We pray to Allah Almighty to continue blessing our country with security and stability, watch over our Armed Forces, and guide them to triumph in the defence of our cherished homeland,” Sheikh Hamad said in conclusion.
