Commemoration Day is a day of pride and gratitude for all who have sacrificed their lives for the dignity and progress of their country. It is a day of loyalty, appreciation and commemoration of the loyal heroes who offered their precious souls for God and the elevation of their homeland.
What more beautiful occasion to remember them! And what greater homeland appreciates the sacrifices of its loyal sons.
“Martyrs Day shines bright, Its glory makes time flourish and leaves prosper.
With their blood, generosity and loyalty, the homeland is nurtured and the nation refined”.
I cannot find words more true than these wonderful verses by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, expressing his pride in the loyal martyrs of the nation.
Commemoration Day is a celebration of those who gave their lives in service of their beloved homeland, and proof of our leaders’ care for the country’s martyrs, who will remain in our memory year after year.
Every year on the 30th of November the memory of the UAE’s martyrs is renewed, the day the first Emirati martyr gave his life in defence of the nation – Salem Suhail Khamis, who died protecting the Emirati islands occupied by Iran.
Martyrs hold a high position with God Almighty, attaining the highest levels of paradise as God says in the holy Quran about them “And never think of those who have been killed in the cause of Allah as dead. Rather, they are alive with their Lord, receiving provision.”
The UAE and its great leadership have given their utmost care to the families of martyrs. His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, established an office to provide for the needs of martyrs’ families with complete care and attention – the hallmark of a wise leadership fulfilling its duty to its loyal sons who gave their lives for the progress of their homeland.
“Sons of Zayed pledged to him, their blood poured over his soil”.
Following in the footsteps of their founding father, the sons of Zayed are all proud of the UAE’s martyrs and ready to defend the country with all their might. The sons of Zayed cherish the soil of this generous homeland that has given them love, care and attention.
May God protect the UAE’s leadership and people from all evil, and may the memory of the martyrs remain eternal in the mind of this nation.
