US Air Force Acquires Combat-Ready Laser Weapon

The US Air Force’s Life Cycle Management Center, in collaboration with Raytheon Technologies, has successfully tested the first high-powered laser weapon for the Air Force during a four-day live ammunition exercise.

The new laser weapon is the first 10-kilowatt laser designed according to US military specifications, allowing it to be transported and installed wherever needed.

Known as H4, it is the 4th operational laser weapon system provided by Raytheon Technologies to the Air Force and the 8th system overall to be delivered by the company to the US Department of Defence.

The new laser weapon, aimed at protecting personnel and assets from short-range airborne threats, has passed the Air Force’s testing and evaluation plan.
