The US Air Force receives the first laser weapon for fighters

The US Air Force currently has all the key components needed for the installation of a defensive laser weapon on a gun pod, paving the way for the first airborne tests.

The US Air Force has received a high-energy laser weapon that can be mounted on fighters as a pod.

Weapons developer Lockheed Martin has unveiled that at least one of these weapons has been delivered to the air force for testing.

This effort falls within the broader framework of plans for the development of laser-armed combat aircraft that can engage enemy missiles, and possibly other targets as well.

More offensive laser-guided weapons may be developed, including those that can engage enemy aircraft and drones at longer ranges.
