Russian medium-range anti-radiation missiles

Russia has developed various types of anti-radiation missiles (ARMs), including:

  • The Kh-31 PD is a medium-range, supersonic, anti-radiation, air-to-air missile. It is used to destroy SAM systems, air traffic control radars and early warning radars.
  • The Kh-31A is an air-to-ground anti-ship missile that can be carried by aircraft such as the MiG-29 or Su-27, with a speed of Mach 3.5.
  • The kh-31PD can reach high speeds of more than Mach 3 – more than 1000 metres per second – to strike enemy air defences.
  • The Kh-31P is a passive seeker head used as an anti-radiation missile. It remains at a high altitude throughout its flight.
