Britain Successfully Tests High-Energy Laser Weapon for Air Defence

The United Kingdom’s Ministry of Defence has achieved a groundbreaking milestone in modern warfare technology, by developing a Laser Directed Energy Weapon (LDEW) system, which completed its first high-energy launch in the UK against aerial targets.

Code-named “DragonFire”, the system demonstrated its impressive capabilities by precisely and efficiently engaging visible targets.

One of the most notable features of the DragonFire system is its cost-effectiveness, with the operation of the laser costing less than £10 per shot, ie firing the weapon for 10 seconds equals the cost of running a regular heater for an hour.

This economic aspect provides a long-range and low-cost alternative to traditional missile systems, potentially revolutionizing military budgets and logistical services.
