UAE Ministry of Defence Organizes 3rd Edition of Military Police Exhibition for Combating Drugs and Cybercrimes

The UAE Ministry of Defence, represented by the Military Police Command, organized the ” 2024 Military Police Exhibition for Combating Drugs and Cyber Crimes,” held at Zayed Military City in Abu Dhabi from February 26 to March 5.

The exhibition was inaugurated by the Commander of the Ground Forces, Major General Yousef Mayouf Al-Halami, in the presence of the Head of Cybersecurity of the UAE Government, Dr Muhammad Al-Kuwaiti, senior officers of the Ministry of Defence, and various security entities in the country, along with experts in addiction treatment and cybercrime.

Objectives   

The third edition of the Military Police Exhibition for Combating Drugs and Cyber Crimes aims to raise awareness among members of the Ministry of Defence, security and police forces, national service recruits, and reservists about the risks of drug abuse.

It also focused on prevention methods and addressing drug-related challenges in the workplace, home, and society.

Moreover, the exhibition aimed to enhance awareness and understanding of cybercrime, as well as electronic fraud and extortion, while educating people on how to avoid falling victim to such crimes.

The exhibition highlights the Ministry of Defence’s capabilities in combating drugs, psychoactive substances, and cybercrimes. It seeks to strengthen collaboration between the Ministry of Defence and institutions in the security and civilian sectors, showcasing successful initiatives. Additionally, it provided a platform for exchanging ideas to improve current procedures and develop new strategies in these fields.

The opening ceremony featured a speech by Brigadier General Mohammed Al-Katbi, the Commander of the Military Police, discussing the Ministry of Defence’s efforts to protect its members from the risks of drugs, psychoactive substances, and cybercrimes.

Dr. Mohammed Al Kuwaiti, the Head of Cybersecurity for the UAE government, emphasized the importance of preparing for cyberwars and preventing electronic fraud and extortion.

The exhibition, held at Zayed Military City, spanned nine consecutive days, with participation from various military, security, and civilian entities in the country, including the Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Interior, the Police General Commands of Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah, as well as the National Cybersecurity Council, National Rehabilitation Center, and Irada Center for Treatment and Rehabilitation.

Activities

The exhibition included a series of panel discussions providing a unique opportunity to benefit from the expertise of specialists in combating drugs, psychoactive substances, and cybercrimes.

Moreover, it featured interactive presentations from participating entities and awareness films on the dangers of drugs and cybercrimes. Attendees had a fantastic opportunity to learn about the latest prevention methods for drug-related risks and effective ways to combat electronic fraud and extortion.

The Military Police Exhibition for Combating Drugs and Cyber Crimes constitutes an invaluable platform for acquiring essential knowledge and experience regarding the challenges and risks faced by the Ministry of Defence, security and police forces, national service recruits, reservists, and the community as it facilitates the development of innovative strategies and solutions to address these issues.
