The United States Army has successfully completed its first test of an autonomous resupply operation using an unmanned surface vessel (USV), marking a significant advancement in logistics and battlefield support capabilities.
The operation involved a USV autonomously transporting a fully loaded unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) from ship to shore in a fully automated, sea-to-land mission. The test demonstrated the Army’s ability to execute complex resupply missions without human intervention, a critical capability for future high-intensity, multi-domain combat environments.
The UGV used in the trial featured advanced autonomy systems, including GPS-based navigation, real-time sensor integration, obstacle avoidance, and secure communications.
