The 18th of July marks the dawn of a new era—Union Pledge Day—a day that witnessed the birth of a strong and enduring federation built on faith in the nation and a firm determination to create a modern state, capable of addressing present-day challenges and shaping a brighter future.
It is the day when the Founding Fathers laid the cornerstone of a towering national structure—the Union. On this historic occasion, the first official meeting of the United Arab Emirates took place, giving rise to a young nation that would go on to write remarkable chapters of development and progress, rooted in the principles of unity, integration, sovereignty, justice, and sustainable growth.
On this blessed day, we draw inspiration from the vision and sacrifices of the founding leaders, as well as from the foresight of our wise leadership today. We are reminded that the UAE’s current regional and global stature is not the product of chance, but the outcome of strategic planning, political will, tireless effort, and sincere sacrifice.
As members of a proud national military institution, we regard Union Pledge Day with immense pride and gratitude. It is a day on which we reaffirm our eternal commitment to the nation—a pledge to protect the gains of the Union and to keep the UAE’s flag flying high. The UAE Armed Forces have always been, and will remain, the loyal shield of this land, advancing with the times, adopting the most advanced defence concepts, and setting benchmarks in discipline, efficiency, and dedication.
Union Pledge Day also reflects the UAE’s forward-looking spirit—one that is rooted in self-confidence and trust in the capabilities of its people. Every sector of the country, including its military institutions, is undergoing dynamic development based on innovation, digital transformation, and investment in human capital—empowering Emiratis to continue safeguarding and elevating the nation.
On this occasion, we extend our deepest respect and appreciation to our wise leadership, who laid the foundations of the Union and have continued its path of empowerment. They have proven that defending the homeland is not merely a duty—it is a noble honour and a lifelong responsibility for every individual on this land.
