UAE Ministry of Defence Hosts Scientific Conference on Physical Readiness of Land Forces in GCC Countries

Under the patronage of the Ministry of Defence, the “Scientific Conference on Physical Readiness of Land Forces in GCC countries” commenced on 21 April 2025 at the Erth Hotel in Abu Dhabi.

The three-day event brought together senior military officials, experts, and specialists from across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries to advance collaboration and innovation in physical training and combat readiness.

The opening session was attended by Brigadier General Mohammed Khamis Al Hassani, Deputy Commander of the Land Forces, alongside various high-ranking officers and defence officials, reaffirming the strategic importance of military integration among GCC countries, particularly in the fields of physical preparedness and combat readiness.

In his keynote address, Staff Colonel Mohammed Ali Al Khenbouli from the Military Sports Education Centre emphasised the significance of the conference as a specialised platform to elevate physical performance across the region’s armed forces. He noted that the exchange of expertise and the adoption of global best practices in military training are essential to enhancing the operational capabilities of land forces.

Staff Colonel Faisal bin Rabia Al Kaabi, Director of Operations and Training Affairs at the GCC General Secretariat for Military Affairs, also addressed the gathering. He highlighted the crucial role of physical readiness in strengthening the efficiency and preparedness of armed forces, enabling them to effectively respond to evolving security challenges.

The conference agenda featured a wide range of sessions covering key topics such as environmental challenges in military training, mental health, injury prevention, and the integration of modern technologies and artificial intelligence in physical training programmes. Participants also explored successful case studies and shared insights on best practices in the field.

In addition to keynote sessions, the event included technical workshops and specialised lectures aimed at enhancing physical assessment systems and fostering cooperation among GCC countries.

These efforts are aligned with the strategic goals of strengthening the operational effectiveness of GCC land forces.

Upon its conclusion on 23 April 2025, Brigadier General Al Hassani hailed the conference as a scientific success, praising the high level of expertise demonstrated and the valuable recommendations emerging from the sessions.

He commended the strong participation of Gulf professionals and reaffirmed the importance of these outcomes in supporting the continuous development of physical readiness and defence integration across the region.
