South Korea Unveils Armed Unmanned Ground Vehicle HR-SHERPA

Hyundai Rotem has revealed the production version of its HR-SHERPA unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) at the MSPO defence exhibition in Poland, following the prototype’s debut in 2024.

The HR-SHERPA features a fully electric 6×6 design with in-wheel motors and airless tyres, providing durability and versatility across multiple roles, including resupply, reconnaissance, casualty evacuation, and threat detection.

The production model is equipped with a remotely operated weapon station, believed to be configured for a 7.62 mm machine gun, along with electro-optical vision systems. It supports both fully autonomous navigation and remote control, even in environments without GPS coverage.

The vehicle also integrates advanced sensor and communication suites, enabling seamless cooperation between manned and unmanned units. This makes it particularly well suited for urban operations and high-risk environments, offering flexible support across a broad spectrum of missions.
