Russia has presented its ultra-light Karakurt-R aerial system at the World Defense Show 2026 in Saudi Arabia, positioning it as a compact yet comprehensive reconnaissance solution for small units and special forces.
The Karakurt-R system comprises four miniature rotary-wing drones, each weighing just 300 grammes. Designed for vertical take-off and landing, the drones are equipped with day-and-night imaging capabilities, offering a maximum operational range of 2,000 metres and an endurance of up to 20 minutes per flight. The system is operated via a dedicated remote control unit.
Engineered for missions in urban settings and rugged terrain alike, the drone can be rapidly deployed from a launch tube and provides real-time data transmission to operators on the ground. This capability delivers instant aerial awareness to soldiers and reconnaissance teams, enhancing situational understanding in dynamic environments.
With its lightweight design, ease of deployment and integrated surveillance features, the Karakurt-R is positioned as a key component of modern soldier equipment and short-range battlefield monitoring systems.
