Russia Tests New Warship Developed for India

Russia has begun testing a new warship developed for the Indian Navy as part of a 2018 defence agreement between the two nations. Under this deal, Russia is supplying India with four advanced frigates, with the first two built in Russia and the remaining two being constructed at Goa Shipyard Limited in India.

Each frigate measures 124.8 metres in length, 15.2 metres in width, and has a displacement of 4,000 tonnes. Designed for high-speed naval operations, the vessels can reach 30 knots and cover up to 4,850 nautical miles per mission.

The warships are armed with a 100mm A-190 naval gun, missile and machine-gun air defence systems, torpedoes, and cruise missiles. Additionally, each vessel features a helipad capable of accommodating a Ka-27 or Ka-31 helicopter, enhancing its operational versatility.
