Poland Launches First Dolphin-Class Intelligence Ship

Poland has launched its first Dolphin-class intelligence ship, a 74-metre vessel with a displacement of 3,000 tonnes, powered by four diesel generators each rated at 990 kilowatts to drive azimuth thrusters. Two additional bow thrusters enhance manoeuvrability and precise positioning at sea. The ship will be crewed by approximately 35 to 40 sailors.

The Dolphin-class design draws inspiration from Sweden’s Artemis-class vessels, which feature twin main azimuth thrusters and bow thrusters, along with sensors capable of intercepting radio, satellite, and electromagnetic emissions. These systems can pinpoint signal origins by triangulating data collected from multiple positions.

Poland’s Dolphin-class ships are expected to offer similar intelligence-gathering capabilities, tailored to meet the specific operational requirements of the Polish Navy.
