The Organising Committee of the Golden Jubilee of the Unification of the Armed Forces has held a press conference attended by representatives of media offices and institutions, as part of ongoing preparations to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the historic decision to unify the Armed Forces, issued on 6 May 1976.
The conference outlined the significance of marking this landmark national occasion, which represents a pivotal step in the establishment of a unified federal military system and laid the foundation for strengthening security and stability, safeguarding national achievements, supporting comprehensive development, and consolidating the State’s regional and international standing.
During the press conference, H.E. Ali Abdullah Al Ahmad, Assistant Undersecretary for Defence Policies and Strategic Communications and Chairman of the Organising Committee, emphasised the importance of celebrating the Golden Jubilee and its key media messages. He affirmed that commemorating this enduring national milestone reflects deep appreciation for a transformative decision that formed the cornerstone of a unified federal defence structure and contributed significantly to enhancing national security and stability.
Al Ahmad noted that the unification decision played a central role in protecting national gains, advancing sustainable development pathways, and reinforcing the UAE’s position at both regional and international levels.
Comprehensive Media Plan
For his part, Brigadier General Staff Qais Rashid Al Dhaheri, Executive Director of Defence Strategic Communications and Vice Chairman of the Organising Committee, presented an overview of the media plan accompanying the Golden Jubilee celebrations. He highlighted the major events and activities scheduled to take place, which aim to unify the national narrative surrounding the history of the Armed Forces, strengthen national pride in the unification decision, and raise public awareness of its historical and strategic dimensions as a pioneering model of federal institutional action.
Al Dhaheri also underscored the pivotal role played by the Armed Forces as a fundamental pillar of security, stability, and development, and as an active partner in the nation’s ongoing development journey. He further highlighted their humanitarian and relief contributions, as well as their efforts in promoting peace and stability at both the regional and international levels.
