Northrop Grumman has released official concept art offering a glimpse of its vision for the future F/A-XX carrier-based fighter, submitted as part of its proposal for the US Navy’s sixth-generation fighter programme.
The images depict a sleek, low-observable design reminiscent of some of the company’s earlier aircraft, according to defence analysts and specialist reports. The manufacturer confirmed that the artwork represents its official concept for the F/A-XX programme.
The F/A-XX project is a critical US Navy initiative aimed at equipping carrier strike groups with a sixth-generation fighter to replace aircraft such as the F/A-18 Super Hornet and to complement the F-35C in the coming decade.
