Istanbul to Host Global Defence Industry Leaders at IDEF 2025

Under the patronage of the Turkish Ministry of Defence and organised by the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation, the 17th edition of the International Defence Industry Fair (IDEF 2025) is set to take place from July 22 to 27, 2025, at the Istanbul Expo Centre. The event, delivered by KFA Fuarcılık and supported directly by Turkey’s Presidency of Defence Industries, reaffirms the fair’s strategic importance as a key platform on the global Defence exhibition calendar.

Since its inception in 1993, IDEF has established itself as one of the world’s premier Defence industry exhibitions. Held biennially, the event ranks among the top four specialised Defence fairs worldwide, offering a crucial meeting point for industry leaders, decision-makers, and Defence professionals.

This year’s edition promises to be the largest yet, spanning 11 exhibition halls and covering nearly 120,000 square meters of space. More than 800 companies and Defence institutions from approximately 50 countries are expected to participate, attracting over 65,000 professional visitors from around the world. The scale and scope of IDEF 2025 position it as an essential hub for networking, collaboration, and innovation in the global Defence and security sector.

Comprehensive Industry Coverage

IDEF 2025 will showcase a broad spectrum of Defence capabilities across land, sea, air, and space domains. The exhibition will feature cutting-edge technologies in military communications, unmanned systems, smart weaponry, tactical vehicles, and logistical support solutions. A dedicated area will also be allocated for displays of heavy equipment, including tanks, armoured vehicles, and naval platforms, alongside advanced electronic and digital Defence systems that reflect the ongoing digital transformation of modern armed forces.

Knowledge Sharing and Thought Leadership

Beyond product showcases, IDEF 2025 will host a series of expert-led seminars, specialised workshops, and high-level panel discussions, bringing together policymakers, industry experts, and military leaders from across the globe. These sessions will address key trends shaping the Defence landscape, such as technological innovation, strategic cooperation, and evolving security challenges.

A highlight of the event will be its Business-to-Business (B2B) matchmaking program, facilitating direct engagement between industry representatives and official delegations from governments and armed forces. These meetings are designed to explore joint manufacturing opportunities, technology transfer arrangements, and collaborative Defence projects—underscoring the fair’s commercial significance.

Strong Regional and International Presence

IDEF 2025 is expected to see notable participation from countries across the Middle East, Europe, and Asia, with an especially prominent presence from the United Arab Emirates. The UAE’s involvement reflects its rapidly advancing national Defence industry and its strategic efforts to build international partnerships and localise cutting-edge technologies.

A Strategic Window into Global Defence Developments

For researchers, journalists, and academics, IDEF 2025 offers a unique vantage point to monitor the latest innovations, track advancements in Defence technologies, and gain insights into geopolitical trends based on the capabilities and projects presented by participating nations.

With robust governmental backing, growing international interest, and professional organisation, IDEF continues to cement its role as an unmissable event on the global Defence industry calendar. The 2025 edition is anticipated to mark a milestone in terms of agreements signed, technologies unveiled, and international collaborations forged over its six dynamic days.
