France has officially revealed its latest main battle tank, the Leclerc XLR, marking a significant step forward in the country’s armoured warfare capabilities.
An upgraded version of the original Leclerc tank, the Leclerc XLR integrates the advanced Scorpion Information and Command System (SICS), along with enhanced battlefield networking and cutting-edge defensive systems. These upgrades enable seamless interoperability with other vehicles in France’s SCORPION programme, including the Jaguar EBRC and Griffon VBMR, allowing for faster data exchange and more coordinated firepower in high-intensity operations.
One of the standout features of the Leclerc XLR is its T2 remote-controlled turret, armed with a 7.62mm machine gun. The tank also boasts reinforced armour, a next-generation fire control system, and upgraded sensors for improved threat detection and engagement.
