Greek defence manufacturer EODH has revealed a modernised version of its Leonidas 1 armoured personnel carrier (APC), equipped with the Valhalla HWS Tyr 25/30 remote weapon station developed in Slovenia. The unveiling marks the latest step in EODH’s ongoing efforts to revitalise the ageing Leonidas platform.
The upgraded vehicle is part of the broader Leonidas 300 modernisation programme, which aims to extend the operational life of the Leonidas II fleet. Key enhancements include replacing the original STEYR 7FA diesel engine with a more powerful Caterpillar C7 engine, delivering 360 horsepower and 1,254 Nm of torque.
In addition to mobility upgrades, the vehicle offers improved firepower options. The proposed configuration supports integration of a remote weapon station armed with either a 12.7mm heavy machine gun and a coaxial 7.62mm machine gun, or a 30mm Mauser MK30F cannon. The latter is based on the design of the Artemis 30 anti-aircraft system, offering increased firepower and combat versatility.
