Colombia Launches ‘ARC 24 de Julio’ Offshore Patrol Vessel

Colombian state-owned shipbuilder Cotecmar has announced the launch of the offshore patrol vessel ARC 24 de Julio during a ceremony attended by the country’s president, defence minister, senior military leaders, and other government officials.

In addition to the ARC 24 de Julio, the event also saw the launch of the hospital ship Benkos Biohó, the coastal vessel ARC Isla San Andrés, and the delivery of four shallow-draft river patrol boats.

Cotecmar reported that construction of the ARC 24 de Julio is 89 per cent complete, involving 1.2 million labour hours, the creation of 1,114 direct jobs, and 3,342 indirect jobs. The vessel was built under the supervision of Lloyd’s Register to ensure compliance with international standards.
