The Chinese Navy has recently taken delivery of two new Type 052DM destroyers, marking a significant boost to its naval fleet. The vessels have joined the 10th and 1st destroyer detachments of the North Sea Fleet.
The Type 052D class forms the backbone of China’s naval surface combatants and represents the most widely produced class of destroyers in the world. More than 30 vessels have been built since the first entered service in 2014, reflecting a major leap in the Chinese Navy’s operational capabilities.
As the first class of destroyers to be procured on a large scale following incremental upgrades to previous designs, the Type 052D has introduced a suite of revolutionary capabilities, solidifying its role as a cornerstone of China’s maritime power.
