China has begun deploying a new air defence system, the FK-3000, designed specifically to counter mass drone attacks. The move comes as the People’s Liberation Army adopts new measures to address the growing challenge posed by inexpensive and easily replaceable unmanned aerial vehicles.
Developed to neutralise the increasing risk of drone swarms, the FK-3000 is particularly aimed at low-altitude threats similar to the Iranian-made Shahed drones, which have been used extensively in recent conflicts.
The system is capable of engaging aerial targets at ranges between 300 metres and 12 kilometres. Its modular design allows it to be equipped with various types of missiles, including compact precision interceptors tailored for counter-drone missions.
