The British Army has successfully carried out its first live firing test of the Sky Sabre air defence system, marking a major milestone in the modernisation of the UK’s ground-based air defences.
Sky Sabre represents a significant technological and operational leap beyond its Cold War-era predecessors. The system is built around three core components: The Land Ceptor launcher, which fires the Common Anti-Air Modular Missile (CAMM); the agile Giraffe multi-beam radar developed by Saab; and a fully integrated command-and-control unit that links all elements into a responsive fire-control network.
Together, these components provide a modern, mobile, and layered air defence capability, specifically designed to meet the complex challenges of today’s threat environment.
