The United Kingdom is upgrading its fleet of fifth-generation F-35 stealth fighters with the cutting-edge Meteor missile, developed by European defence manufacturer MBDA Systems.
The Meteor missile is a key air-to-air weapon for both the Royal Air Force and the Royal Navy. While it is already in service with the Eurofighter Typhoon, the UK military aims to extend its capabilities to the F-35B, significantly enhancing the operational effectiveness of the American-built fighter.
Weighing approximately 190 kilograms and measuring 3.6 metres in length, the Meteor missile boasts an impressive range of over 190 kilometres and can travel at speeds exceeding four times the speed of sound.
