The United States Army is developing a cutting-edge hypersonic capability for its High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) with the introduction of the new Blackbeard Ground Launch (GL) missile.
This ambitious upgrade aims to combine the exceptional speed and precision of the Blackbeard missile with the battlefield agility and rapid deployment features of the existing HIMARS platforms. By doing so, the system will gain unmatched offensive reach while maintaining its hallmark mobility and versatility.
The Blackbeard missile is currently under development by Castelion Corporations, and is engineered to deliver self-guided, high-precision strikes against both armoured and mobile targets at speeds of up to Mach 5. The system is designed to operate effectively even in complex and hostile combat environments.
A key advantage of the new missile is its compatibility with the MLRS family of launchers, allowing it to be deployed from both HIMARS and tracked M270 launch systems with only minor modifications.
