Dubai Launches ‘Itma’en’ Service to Promote Mental Well-being and Quality of Life

Dubai has announced the launch of a new mental health support service, “Itma’en”, aimed at enhancing psychological wellbeing and improving quality of life across the community. The initiative has been introduced by Dubai Health in collaboration with the Community Development Authority and the Dubai Health Authority.

The service is designed to provide psychological guidance and support to citizens, residents, and visitors alike, reflecting Dubai’s broader vision of placing human health and wellbeing at the forefront of its priorities. It also aligns with ongoing efforts to strengthen the emirate’s mental healthcare system and expand services that contribute to a more balanced and resilient society.

“Itma’en” offers confidential psychological support through a dedicated hotline (800506), where a team of specialists provides reassurance and professional guidance. The initiative aims to foster a sense of emotional security while promoting greater awareness of mental health and encouraging individuals to seek support when needed.

The launch forms part of Dubai’s wider strategy to deliver integrated, people-centred services that enhance overall quality of life. It also supports the objectives of the Dubai Social Agenda 33, which focuses on building an inclusive and effective social system that ensures protection, care, and empowerment for all members of society, alongside advancing a high-quality and efficient healthcare framework in line with global standards.

Officials emphasised that the initiative represents a significant step in strengthening community care systems. Hessa bint Essa Buhumaid, Director General of the Community Development Authority, stated that the service underscores the commitment of government entities to provide specialised support channels that help individuals and families cope with psychological pressures, thereby enhancing social stability and wellbeing.

She added that promoting mental health is a key pillar of social development in Dubai, given its direct impact on community cohesion and quality of life. The hotline, she noted, provides a safe and accessible space for individuals to express their concerns and receive professional assistance.

For his part, Dr Alawi Sheikh Ali highlighted that the initiative reflects Dubai’s proactive approach to building a flexible and forward-looking healthcare system centred on people’s needs, with mental health support regarded as a fundamental component of public health.

Meanwhile, Dr Amer Sharif, also President of Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences, said the service embodies the leadership’s vision of fostering a safe and stable environment that supports human wellbeing. He noted that it also demonstrates effective collaboration among government entities to provide accessible and confidential mental health support services.

The “Itma’en” service is available free of charge to all members of the community, regardless of age group, and operates daily from 9:00 a.m. to midnight in both Arabic and English. Callers can connect directly with specialised consultants for psychological advice, while cases requiring further medical follow-up are referred to relevant specialists for appropriate evaluation and care.
