Thales UK has unveiled its new DigitalCrew system, designed to enhance surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities on board armoured vehicles. The system combines advanced sensing technologies with machine-learning algorithms to improve situational awareness while reducing the cognitive burden on vehicle crews operating in high-intensity combat environments.
DigitalCrew relies on real-time processing of thermal and electro-optical video, enabling automatic target detection and the fusion of multiple sensor feeds to create a 360-degree panoramic view of the surrounding battlespace. This integrated approach allows crews to detect, track, and assess threats more rapidly and accurately.
The system also incorporates the SharpView laser target designation unit, offering high-precision target marking. SharpView can be integrated not only on armoured platforms but also on unmanned aerial systems, enabling commanders to cue precision strikes while minimising collateral damage.
